Teaching
Responsible of the courses Viticulture (6 credits) and Viticulture Management (6 credits) in the Bachelor Degree of Viticulture and Oenology. Thesis Supervisor of 11 students and Tutor of 20 students performing a training stage in viticulture. Tutor of a foreign PhD student and a foreign post-doc.

Research
Responsabile for the management of organic and biodynamic vineyards in the Experimental Station "Terre Naldi" located at Tebano (Faenza, Ravenna).

Major field of research includes:

Physiological, biochemical and agronomic aspects of mineral nutrition in fruit tree crops and grapevine.

Studies on rhizospheric processes

Improvement of grape and wine quality through sustainable agronomic approaches.

Development of sustainable strategies for controlling iron-deficiency chlorosis in fruit tree crops and grapevine.

Orchard floor management and characterization of phytosiderophores release in perennial graminaceous species intercropped with grapevine and fruit trees.

Exploration of grapevine diversity. Strategy for conservation and sustainable use of core collections.

Physiology, nutrition and canopy management of innovative training systems for grapevine.

Use of silicon in the nutrition of grapevine and fruit tree crops for improving fruit quality, storability and resistance to environmental stresses.

Development of bio-fertilizers for the nutrition of grapevine and fruit tree crops in organic farming.

Fertigation and irrigation of grapevine and fruit trees.

Tolerance of genetic materials to abiotic stresses due to soil factors.

He has published more than 80 scientific papers, 18 of them in International referred Journals, 2 chapters of International Books, 14 papers on referred Proceedings of International Symposia.

He has conducted studies and gave invited conferences in foreign countries (Japan, Germany, Spain, France, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Romania).

Member of the International Scientific Committee of the "VII International Symposium on Mineral Nutrition of Fruit Crops" (Chanthaburi, Thailand, 19 - 25 May 2012).
Expert of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Secretary and member of the scientific and editorial board of the "National Symposium on Fruit Tree Crops Nutrition" (Bologna, 2005). Member of the editorial board of the International Symposium ISHS "Foliar nutrition of perennial fruit plants" (Meran, 2001). Referee of several International Journals. Member of the American Society for Oenology and Viticulture (ASEV), the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), the Group of International Experts of Vitivinicultural Systems for Cooperation (GiESCO), the Società Orticola Italiana (SOI).
