Faculty of Agriculture at University of Bologna – Alma Mater Studiorum

ART. 1 - Scholarship, amount and duration.
In order to enhance the attractiveness of Faculty of Agriculture  for foreign students, 7 (seven) scholarships of merit €5.650,00 (gross) are hereby instituted with funds made available by the Department of International Relations of the University of Bologna (DIRI). These scholarships are exclusively designated for non-Italian European students (see ART. 3, par. 4) willing to enroll in the Second Level Degree Course in International Horticulture for  the academic year 2008-2009 . 

ART. 2 – Compatibility.
The scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships bestowed by the Italian State or Public Agencies. Awarding of this scholarship is incompatible with any type of employment by Italian State or Public Agencies.

ART. 3 – Eligibility and selection procedure. 
To  participate the candidate must meet the following requirements: 

express, before October 31, 2008, the willingness to get enrolled in the Second Level Degree Course in International Horticulture for  academic year the 2008-2009. The fellowship will be awarded only after the enrolment; 
have a bachelor of Horticulture, Agriculture,  Forestry  or related subjects (or equivalent examination for a total of at least 180 ECTS). 
to not have the Italian citizen ship  
have an international English language certification. 

The scholarships will be awarded according to the list of merit published by the Judging Committee  nominated by the Council of the Faculty of Agriculture. 
The selection will be made on the basis of the following  criteria:
undergraduate degree grade points 
amount of time taken to reach undergraduate degree
educational curriculum
 
In the case of equal scores, the youngest candidate will be awarded with the scholarship. 

ART. 4 – Maintenance requirements
The students awarded with the scholarships must pass at least 2/3 of the examinations in their Course program by July 31, 2009. In addition, he/she must have an average grading score higher than 25/30.

ART.5 – Payment
After enrollment, the scholarship will be paid out, by the Faculty of Agriculture, in two installments:
I^ installment  € 2.825,00, to be paid at the end of the competition procedure;
II^ installment: € 2.825,00 to be paid no later than October 31, 2009 on the condition that the student meet the maintenance requirements described in art. 4.

ART. 6 – Application procedure
The application form (Attachment 1), must be submitted in person, or via courier, to the following address:

Date and time of receipt of applications will be documented as follows:

if submitted in person, by the date and time indicated on receipt signed by Secretariat of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture;
if sent via courier, by the date sent, indicated on courier’s stamp.

The Office of the Dean is opened Monday through Friday, from  8:30 to  13:00.

Applications submitted or received after the deadline will not be considered. 

On his/her application, each candidate shall indicate, upon the candidate’s word:

Last name and first name, date and place of birth, residence and citizenship;

E-mail address where the candidate will received communication relative to this competition, and telephone number.

The following documents shall be attached to candidate’s application:
personal and educational curriculum vitae
copy of Degree diploma and transcript of examinations completed. 
photocopy of passport or ID

The personal data reported by the candidates in the application process will be used solely for the purposes of this Competition, in accordance with Italian law, art. 13 del D.Lgs. n. 196 del 30/06/2003.

The Administration reserves the right to verify the truthfulness  of candidates’ declarations. Falsifying information in the Application procedure is punishable according to Italian law art. 76 del DPR 445/2000, if falsification of any part of the content of the Application is verified, the candidate will be automatically be excluded. 

ART. 7 - Award.
The scholarship will be awarded by Chancellor’s Decree according to the list of merit  described in art. 3. 
The list of merit will be published on the Faculty’s website and posted on the notice board of the office of the Faculty Dean.

ART.8 - Acceptance.
Successful applicants will be contacted by email. The awarded candidates must send a declaration of acceptance of the scholarship without reserve and according to the conditions of this Competition Announcement via e-mail to presagr@agrsci.unibo.it with cc. to guglielmo.costa@unibo.it no later than 10 days after the date of receipt of the notification, or the award will expire. In said declaration, the candidate must give explicit assurance of his/her eligibility and must declare that none of the conditions of incompatibility described in art.2 of this Competition Announcement exist. He/she must also commit to communicating any variation of his/her status during the year with respect to incompatibility, or eligibility, for this scholarship. 

ART. 9 - Refusal.
If, in the course of the year, one of the selected students will refuse the scholarship, the sum will be assigned to the next scholarship competition announcement. 

ART. 10 - Fiscal regulations.
The scholarship does not pay into insurance or other benefits and is taxable according to current legal tax regulations.
